In 2014, adjacent to ‘De Haarlemmer’, Smitsloo acquired the ‘De Pelikaan Shop & Fun’ shopping gallery. In association with Leiden City Council, a magnificent upgrading was done recently of the horeca (hotel & catering) square. Last year, EP Swaak opened a big, new store in this complex. This put its position as the regional white goods and TV/video/sound specialist even more in the ‘shop-window’. Also based here are Taco Mundo (a specialist in quality Mexican dishes) and Heineken (a cafe serving food / international pub called ‘Bath Habits’).
